GIS Expo in Piacenza is the biggest European event dedicated to the users of cranes, mobile cranes, aerial work platforms, telehandlers, forklift trucks, overhead travelling cranes, port & industrial handling equipment and heavy transport vehicles.
SAIM Industrial will be exhibiting its in-house developed plug-in hybrid engine, which was officially presented at EIMA 2024 on the international market. The engine combines the electronically controlled 18.5 kW Kubota D1105-K diesel engine for the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) with a 48 V, 12.8 kW electric motor that proves to be extremely versatile. It can be used in diesel-only mode, exploiting a power of 18.5 kW, in electric-only mode with a power of 12.8 kW, or in hybrid mode, combining electric and endothermic engines for a maximum power of over 30 kW. This allows the aerial platform to operate in all situations where regulations impose restrictions on emissions, thus avoiding the need for the company to adopt expensive full-electric machinery in order to operate in such areas. Furthermore, given the power of the internal combustion engine, the machine does not require exhaust gas treatment systems and therefore does not need bulky urea tanks.
In addition, SAIM Industrial will be exhibiting a Range Extender to its Hybrid Integrated Solutions product family: a new hybrid system born from the need to overcome the range limitations of electric vehicles in various industrial sectors, including agriculture and construction. SAIM Industrial has designed a solution that, when installed on an electric motor, extends its range by functioning as a power generator to recharge the 48 V battery. The system can manage 100% recharging: with 80 A/h for fast recharging and 5 A/h for slow recharging and cell balancing.
Specifically, the new Range Extender presented by SAIM Industrial consists of the Kubota Z482 internal combustion engine from the Super Mini Series, rated at 9.9 kW @ 3600 rpm, a proven and extremely reliable product, combined with a 4 kW @ 1800 rpm generator.
