The 66th edition of the International Boat Show has opened in Genoa, from October 1st to 6th. This is Italy’s main boat show, where the latest generation of boats is showcased alongside the most innovative technologies, including components and electronics.
Among the show’s main highlights is Avikus, a Korean manufacturer of autonomous navigation solutions, for which SAIM Marine is the exclusive distributor for Italy. Thanks to the new Neuboat systems—equipped with LiDAR sensors, artificial intelligence, and 360° vision—navigating unfamiliar waters, charting complex routes, and mooring in crowded ports will no longer be a source of stress for captains and boat owners. The event will offer the opportunity to witness a demonstration of the Neuboat Dock II, Neuboat Navi, and Neuboat Control solutions, designed to ensure safe, intuitive navigation without blind spots.
Significant attention will be focused on TotalUpgrade, the new initiative developed by SAIM Marine in collaboration with ZF, dedicated boat owners and captains who wish to upgrade their vessels with the latest control technologies. The campaign allows for the replacement of previous-generation control systems—including those from other manufacturers—with ZF TotalCommand, the most advanced platform for integrated propulsion and maneuvering management. This upgrade translates into greater precision during docking, increased safety, and less stress for the crew.
Also on display at the trade show is OPMS Seamless Integration, the system designed to manage onboard power sources (Onboard Power Management System). The system, designed and manufactured by SAIM, offers ease of use and constant power availability for various usage scenarios, such as “night mode.” The system is available in three different modules to ensure continuous power delivery and dynamic management of multiple energy sources (generators, batteries, inverters, the shore power grid, photovoltaic panels, and more). Power distribution and the switching between several sources are managed by a control panel that also limits consumption peaks to optimize energy use and prevent waste. Remote monitoring for service purposes is also available upon request, allowing users to check the status of generator sets at any time and schedule predictive maintenance activities. The system complies with international ISO, IEC, and RINA standards.
The IoT Monitoring System is a solution that integrates hardware and software, capable of monitoring the key parameters of all SAIM products installed on board a vessel, allowing users to keep everything under control through a single graphical interface. This new service, exclusively designed and marketed by SAIM Marine, enables the real-time collection of a range of data regarding the operation of SAIM systems installed on board. This is achieved through the installation of an integration module that, when properly connected to each device, collects all relevant parameters—such as loads, power consumption, temperatures, operating hours, and all status information useful for technical assessments—and displays them on an intuitive graphical interface. Alarm management enables the organization of timely intervention when necessary. The comprehensive overview of the collected data makes it possible to plan maintenance in advance, offering significant advantages in terms of operating costs, time, and the duration of any potential vessel downtime. The SAIM IoT Monitoring System can send real-time notifications selected by the operator—a feature designed to provide the shipyard with timely insights into the systems, enabling preventive or prompt interventions.
Among the deck equipments, SAIM Marine offers Bonomi’s TAAK (www.bonominet.it), a motorized retractable cleat designed to respond to the growing trend in contemporary yacht design toward eliminating all superfluous elements from the deck, emphasizing clean lines, simplicity, and freedom of movement. The goal is to transform the deck into a space completely free of obstacles: cleats and mooring systems are no longer visible elements, but high-tech devices perfectly integrated into the vessel, capable of ensuring maximum functionality without compromising its aesthetics. The result is a safer and more usable space, characterized by a minimalist and elegant design. TAAK was created to meet the needs of a broad and highly discerning audience, ranging from passionate and experienced boat owners to specialized design firms and the most prestigious shipyards. TAAK’s design followed an efficiency-oriented approach.
For this reason, a hydraulically driven system was developed that allows for the coordinated control of multiple devices through a single electrical control unit. This solution reduces electricity consumption, preserves the range of the onboard batteries, and enables the simultaneous operation of a large number of devices, ensuring maximum reliability. As with the JOY line, TAAK was also conceived according to design principles centered on quality, ruggedness, and durability. Each component was developed to ensure high and consistent performance, with the goal of offering a product capable of combining technological innovation, reliability, and uncompromising design.
The brands displayed during the show: AnchorGuardian, Avikus, Bonomi (Joy), Centek Industries, Data, Dynamica, Exalto, Exilator, Glendinning, Parker Racor, QS Seamaster, Rehlko, Seadrive, Sea Recovery, Underwater Lights, Waveless, ZF, and Zipwake.
