ANCHORGUARDIAN SYSTEM

Anchoring is a routine and age-old operation, built on mastery, experience and sensitivity. It is as frequent as mooring or loading and unloading cargo. The anchoring process – from laying to lifting the anchor – is critical for the safety of crew and passengers as well as sealife below. It is a dangerous operation that requires specific skills and continuous attention. Even when ship’s crew work diligently to lay anchor in the most secure way possible, dragging can happen, immediately recognizing anchor drag can avoid dangerous collisions and even grounding.

AnchorGuardian offers a new dimension of safety at sea by minimizing the risk of anchor dragging, providing predictions and immediate alarms.
The patented technology offers safety during anchoring by identifying in real-time dangerous anchor drag, independent of GPS and any movement of the ship.
Additionally, AnchorGuardian predicts the anchor hold with early warnings and provides essential information while laying the anchor, while at anchor and when lifting the anchor.
For the first time ever, using sensor fusion and sophisticated algorithms compatible with the NMEA2000 interface, this technology can build a stable dataset of the anchor’s relative and absolute position providing reliable information over the entire anchoring procedure.

KEY FUNCTIONS

AnchorGuardian provides real-time data during deployment, holding and retrieval. The following data is presented to
the user through an intuitive graphical interface:

data

• Anchor Depth – Depth of the anchor in the water.
• Anchor on Seabed - Notification when the anchor reaches the seabed.
• Scope - Ratio of anchor chain length to water depth.
• Distance to Anchor - Horizontal distance between anchor and vessel.
• Chain Length - Total length of anchor chain deployed in the water.
• Anchor Dragging - Detecting if the anchor is dragging and by how much.
• Anchor Velocity - How fast the anchor is dragging.
• Anchor Force - Force measured at the anchor, helping to detect when the anchor is close to dragging.
• Anchor Angle - The roll angle between the anchor and the horizontal plane, indicating whether the anchor is
positioned optimally for maximum holding power.
• Anchor Hold - Whether the anchor is properly set to achieve maximum holding power,
based on roll angle, chain angle and force.
• Chain on Seabed - Indicates how much chain is lying on the seabed, helping to:
a) detect if chain is close to completely lifting
b) optimize the amount of chain to lay out
• Anchor aweigh - Notification when the anchor lifts off the seabed, indicating the vessel is free to maneuver.
• Anchor stowed - Notification when the anchor is in its stow position and charging begins.
