The HYDROMASTER thruster consists of a “L” or “Z” drive propulsion unit that includes a top mounted electric drive motor connected to a lower gearbox through a high flexible coupling. The gearbox is fitted with a pair of spiral bevel reduction gears, running in ample sized roller bearings 360°. Continuous steering is accomplished by a worm-worm wheel transmission.
A rudder angle feedback unit is fitted with local thrust direction pointer. The thruster is oil bath lubricated, oil being circulated and requires no external lubrication oil cooling.
The propeller hub includes a labyrinth and shaft seals to ensure maximum protection against ingress of water and debris.
A sand excluder prevents underwater suspended particles from penetrating the propeller shaft seal.
The propeller is a 5 bladed, high skewed, pulling type, Ni Al Bronze, manufactured within tolerance class I.
Optimized under water body shape based on suitable NACA profiles for minimum drag on vessels operating in speeds up to 30 knots.
The requirements of all internationally recognized classification societies are being met and the thruster can be delivered with a final inspection certificate Maximum continuous ratings may differ between classification societies.
