The new model manufactured by the US Glendinning Marine – www.glendinningprods.com – is easy to use and to install.Connection to plug the boat is quickly made by simply pulling out the amount of power cord. When ready to go boating, Cablemaster retracts and stores the power cord on the reel just by pushing the control switch. A patented drive motor mechanism disengages itself when the cable is extended. The new model stores 20 meters of 63 amp power cord in a very small area and is specifically designed for the marine environment. All electrical connections are completely sealed. Saim Marine presents the V-shaped interceptors manufactured by the Swedish Zipwake – www.zipwake.com . They make the successful Series S even more versatile and highly competitive. V-shaped interceptors for centerline mounting are perfect for filling the gap between twin outboards or stern drives, as well as dual propeller tunnels and pods. The four V-shaped models cover deadrise angles effectively between 11 to 24 degrees. V-shaped centerline mounted interceptors can be included in new installations, or retro-fitted to already installed systems. In combination with Zipwake straight interceptors, or alternatively mounted as a single unit, the V-shaped interceptors further increases flexibility of installation and application in boats with different hull design and engine options. The V-shaped interceptors for centerline mounting contribute to achieve a near full beam interceptor arrangement for optimal lift efficiency, inherently requiring a small blade stroke of just 30 mm. In addition, interceptor actuation is in general significantly faster than conventional trim tabs and the use of interceptors hence enables to rapidly respond to external forces acting on the boat, to maintain the boats desired pitch and roll angles for better performance, fuel economy, comfort and safety.

Ancona, 2017 July, 31st – It has been a complete success the commissioning start-up procedure of the eTRAC stabilization system which took place on board of the new ISA Yacht 37m located at the shipyard in Ancona.

The system has eTRAC 300 actuators with 1,6sqm fins and it’s suitable both for underway and for at anchor stabilization. Pretty easy to install by the shipyard, after the check of connection made by ABT-TRAC engineers, the sea trials and system settings have been made in a few hours.

The new eTRAC product range will soon see the official launch of the eTRAC 250 actuators, developed for fins starting from 0,4sqm and covering the needs of smaller yachts. The new eTRAC 250 will be displayed at Cannes and Genoa boat shows next September on SAIM Marine booths.

This is the title of the first of the two calendar conferences which were held on Thursday, March the 30th, at Hall E Pavilion within the Seatec Exhibition.
At the heart of the discussions, the environmental sustainability.
Dr. Massimo Dona and Ing. Ruggero Riva intoduced the debate.
Among others, Rev. Admiral Claudio Boccalatte and Ing. Luigi Grossi of the Ligurian Region of Marine Technologies explained their points of view .
Ing Fabrizio Zaninello of INCOFIN Saim Group, pointed on “vices and virtues” of Gnl, even in comparison to other fossil fuels. He finally explained the reasons for an efficient filtration system to avoid complications such as cold start, injector clogging and increased injection costs.
We remind also Eng. Carlo Belloni of Volvo Penta, Dr. Barbara Amerio of Amer Yachts, Stefano Martelli of Swiss Brugg and Avv. Dario Soria.

ZF technical Training

The courses regarding ZF electronic controls were held at ZF headquarters in Arco di Trento and have focused on the line Smart Command and the new JMS (Joystick Maneuvering System).
They involved more than 30 specialized technicians from 20 authorized Service Points.
The courses were held by our Service Engineer Marco Oltolina with the support of Davide Mazzotta (SAIM Network Technical Manager) and the ZF Staff.
In addition to a theoretical session, the techinical staff carried out tests in open waters, sailing on board of the ZF Test Boat on the Garda Lake.

The technical training session concerning the new range of marine generators Kohler 12 – 24kW, addressed to Saim Dealer Network – Level 1 has just ended.

The course, which was organized in two sessions from the 7th to 10th of February, involving 40 specialized technicians from 20 companies located throughout the country, has been held by Service Manager SAIM Marco Pezzuolo with the support of the Service Manager KOHLER Francesco Pitardi. The training was focused on the new gen-set range equipped with KOHLER Diesel engines.

In particular, the features of these new series have been studied in details as well as the new soundproofing cabin and the new and revolutionary DEC3500 controller that offers the possibility of parallel operation with multiple generator sets (also single phase) thanks to PGEN® system patented by KOHLER.

In Salzburg (Austria) took place the last Ferretti Group Convergence, the annual conference that brings together several commanders of the Ferretti Group yachts and shuttles.

The participants this year were over 100 and the main Sponsor of the event was the Norwegian SIDE POWER, as well as MAN and RINA.

Ronny Skauen, Side Power General Manager, held to commanders a theoretical session lasting two hours, explaining the features and benefits of the Side Power thrusters and stabilizers.

SAIM has supported the event by participating actively in the organization of this worldwide important meeting point.

Kohler Technical Training for Ferretti dealers

A technical training exclusively addressed to Ferretti dealers was held by Ferretti Service University at Saim headquarters at Buccinasco on February 9th and 12th.

More than 40 dealers attended the event focused on Kohler ranges K and DJ. The 2-day program included sessions concerning the new EFKOZD and EFOZDJ with Kohler engine, theory and practical courses for the DEC3500 functionality and new FRX alternator. Attention was drawn to the use of original spare parts for maintenance and service schedules of all models were delivered to the dealers.

The meeting was a great opportunity to develop major technical issues at Saim thanks to Ferretti Service University and the technical staff of Saim Service department.

Saim delivered five MAN engines to CME (www.cmesrl.it). The generators equipped with Man engines were employed for the Skyway Monte Bianco, the brand new cable car in Courmayeur.
Two gens – 400 and 800 kW – were located at the cable car base at Pontal d’Entrèves, at 1.500 m above sea level, two 800 kW gens at Pavillon Mont Fréty, at 2400 m, a 500- kW gen at the top at Punta Helbronner at 3.466 m.

The Saim technical department accomplished a long feasibility study due to the height of the location.
